About Ride 4 the Cure
In 2004, Gord MacDonald and Mary Prince organized the first “Ride 4 The Cure” as a way of helping raise funds for the local area focusing on cancer treatment funding and breast cancer research. They tirelessly worked on the event over a 10 year period before stepping down in 2013, having raised over $639,000.00 for the Cape Breton Cancer Centre and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Both Mary and Gord never envisioned their Ride ever becoming a part of the local biker culture and a tourist attraction for off island bikers, but it did!
In 2014, the local Sydney area Lion’s Club took over as the organizing body and began organizing the event with help from the local Harley Owners Group and the Celtic Pride Riding Club. With every transition phase there has been some growing pains but through it all the Ride is still continuing to give back to the community. Now entering the 14th Annual “Ride 4 The Cure” we are aiming higher and hoping to make this year's ride the best ever. Join us!

Often when someone in our community is diagnosed with cancer, their ability to work can be compromised. The Cape Breton Cancer Patient Care fund helps to ease the financial burden during their sickest days.
Every year there are 1,200 new diagnoses of cancer in Cape Breton
Each day, more than 150 patients are treated in the Cape Breton Cancer Centre
